Pros
Pro Can handle huge inclines
Riders are able to ascend hills of up to a 25 percent grade, which is great for those looking to ride in hilly areas.
Pro Adjustable max speed
Dual+ has been equipped with adjustable power limits, ensuring there’s a riding mode that’s appropriate for users of every skill level.
Pro Regenerative braking
When the brakes are used, the battery is recharged with the generated energy. This allows the user to get longer battery life, which can help one travel further or save on charge time.
Pro True flexible longboard design
Most longboarders prefer a flexible design. Flex is subjective, and while you may like it or hate it, Boosted does not let you pick flex for your specific weight or flex preference.
Pro Very light
This board only weighs about 15 lb, but can move at speeds up to 20 mph. Boards with similar top speeds usually weigh two to three times as much as the Boosted Board.
Pro Top quality components
Using a Loaded Vanguard 38 deck - it's a premium board with top quality feel to the deck. It also has high quality Caliber trucks, Orangatang wheels, and quality bushings - these are not your cheap chinese knockoff components. A premium price is at least reflected with top quality components.
Pro Awesome customer support
Boosted has great customer support and help forums. They very accessible and knowledgeable when answering questions about the board, handling updates, and advising potential fixes.
Pro Can handle riders up to 295 lb
While the board itself is strong enough to hold this amount of weight and the motors powerful enough to move someone this large, battery life will most likely be affected – though it is a testament to the board that it is possible at all.
Pro Can be ridden with a dead battery
When the battery is dead, it can be ridden like a regular skateboard. It is one of the few boards that can be ridden with a dead battery.
Cons
Con Poor range in actual use
While Boosted claims a range of 6 to 7 miles, they do admit it can be limited to 4.5 miles in expert mode. In practice, the range has been shown to be around 4 to 4.5 miles when not in expert mode, which is significantly less than newer competitors in the burgeoning e-skateboard market. This is truly a standout reason to skip this board unless you plan to carry their quick charger with you (adding even more weight on top of the 15 lb board). The only other alternative to match the range of newer boards is to void your warranty by adding additional, aftermarket batteries.
Con Pushing on dead battery is difficult
While the board can be ridden with a dead battery, it can be a bit difficult compared to a usual longboard due to the resistance caused by the friction of the belt and the motor.
Con Cannot be ridden in even slightly wet weather
The board is not in any way water-resistant. Boosted claims, “Any amount of water has the potential to damage the board.”
Con Can be thrown off if remote signal is lost
The board can lose the signal from the remote (potentially due to outside interference), which can throw you forward. When it re-establishes the connection, it can throw you back. At high speeds, this can cause falls and injuries.
Con Plastic housings are not very durable
Key components on the bottom of the board are housed by a plastic cover, which makes them vulnerable to the elements and bumps in the road. The plastic does allow for more absorption when it’s hit, so this can be a mixed bag depending on the type of impact.
Con No longer available by the manufacturer
This board is no longer officially sold by Boosted, as it has been replaced with a pre-order for their 2nd generation + board.
Con Uses old belt drive technology instead of in-wheel motor
Instead of an in-wheel motor, the board uses a belt drive to power the board. Belts are not as durable and can be damaged if something interferes with or is caught in them.
