Davis Instruments Vantage Vue (2010) vs AcuRite Atlas (2018)

Analysis:

The Davis Instruments 6250 Vantage Vue (2010) is a great Home Weather Station for its $294 asking price.

The AcuRite Atlas 01009M (2018), however, is merely passable at its $199 price point. If you're considering buying a Home Weather Station in the $170 range, you might want to check out some of its competitors.

The Davis Instruments 6250 Vantage Vue (2010) was loved by reviewers at Wirecutter (NYTimes), a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Home Weather Stations" roundup where it was named its "Upgrade pick", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the AcuRite Atlas 01009M (2018) - it wasn't considered to be a good enough purchase to earn a spot in any roundups conducted by sources that perform objective hands-on testing, which typically indicates that a product isn't worth its asking price.

We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like TechHive, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.

Then we checked which sources liked these two Home Weather Stations best and found that the Davis Instruments 6250 Vantage Vue (2010) got its highest, 8.4, review score from reviewers at Lifewire, whereas the AcuRite Atlas 01009M (2018) earned its best score of 8 from TechHive.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Home Weather Stations on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Home Weather Stations being 7.6 out of 10, whereas the Davis Instruments 6250 Vantage Vue (2010) and AcuRite Atlas 01009M (2018) managed averages of 8.2 and 8.0 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Davis Instruments 6250 Vantage Vue (2010) vs. AcuRite Atlas 01009M (2018) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
