Western Digital My Passport Wireless SSD vs Adata SE730H Series External SSDs

Analysis:

The Western Digital My Passport Wireless 250GB is one of the very best Portable SSDs that one can get for around $160. The Adata SE730H 512GB, however, while a very good choice at its $110 price point, falls just short of being remarkable.

The Western Digital My Passport Wireless 250GB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Wireless Hard Drives for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Frequent Travelers, Photographers With Speed Needs", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the Adata SE730H 512GB - it was really well-received by reviewers at PCmag, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best Rugged Hard Drives and SSDs for 2020" roundup and was named its "Best for Value Seekers, On-the-Go Multimedia Editing", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like Techradar and PCmag, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.

Then we checked which sources liked these two Portable SSDs best and found that the Western Digital My Passport Wireless 250GB got its highest, 9, review score from reviewers at Digital Camera World, whereas the Adata SE730H 512GB earned its best score of 8 from PCmag.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Portable SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Portable SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Western Digital My Passport Wireless 250GB and Adata SE730H 512GB managed averages of 8.2 and 8.0 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Western Digital My Passport Wireless 250GB vs. Adata SE730H 512GB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
