Samsung 970 EVO Plus Series SSDs vs Adata SU750 Series SSDs

Analysis:

The Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB is one of the very best Internal SSDs that one can get for around $130. The Adata SU750 512GB, however, while a very good choice at its $50 price point, falls just short of being remarkable.

The Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best PCI Express NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Performance-Minded Upgraders", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the Adata SU750 512GB - it was really well-received by reviewers at PCmag, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best Internal SSDs for 2020" roundup and was named its "Best for Dollar-for-Performance Value Seekers", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. Tom's Hardware, for example, preferred the Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB, while PCmag rated both of them the same.

We also took a look at which sources had the best things to say about them. We learned that the Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB got reviewed the highest by Techradar - it gave it a rating of 10, while the Adata SU750 512GB most impressed reviewers at PCmag, which gave it a score of 8.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB, with its 8.7 average, performed considerably better than most Internal SSDs - the mean score for the product category being 7.8 out of 10 - while the Adata SU750 512GB managed an average of 7.0.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB vs. Adata SU750 512GB review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
