Adata XPG SX8200 Pro Series SSDs vs Samsung 970 Pro Series SSDs

Analysis:

The Adata XPG SSD SX8200 Pro 1TB is one of the very best Internal SSDs that one can get for around $120. The Samsung SSD 970 Pro 1TB, however, while a very good choice at its $330 price point, falls just short of being remarkable.

The Adata XPG SSD SX8200 Pro 1TB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best SSDs for Upgrading Your Laptop in 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Dollar-for-Performance Value Seekers Needing an M.2 Drive", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the Samsung SSD 970 Pro 1TB: it has performed really well in a handful of roundups done by reliable sources that perform their own objective testing, like Windows Central, Tom's Hardware, and Android Central - it was awarded the "Runner Up" title by Windows Central, "Best 1TB (or Larger) M.2 SSD" by Tom's Hardware, and "Best NVMe SSD" by Android Central, which marks it as a worthy candidate.

To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. PCmag, for example, preferred the Adata XPG SSD SX8200 Pro 1TB, while PCWorld rated both of them the same.

We also took a look at which sources had the best things to say about them. We learned that the Adata XPG SSD SX8200 Pro 1TB got reviewed the highest by Expert Reviews - it gave it a rating of 10, while the Samsung SSD 970 Pro 1TB most impressed reviewers at PCWorld, which gave it a score of 9.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Adata XPG SSD SX8200 Pro 1TB and Samsung SSD 970 Pro 1TB managed averages of 9.2 and 8.8 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Adata XPG SSD SX8200 Pro 1TB vs. Samsung SSD 970 Pro 1TB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
