Adata XPG SX8200 Pro Series SSDs vs Seagate FireCuda 520 SSD

Analysis:

The Adata XPG SSD SX8200 Pro 1TB is an exemplary product and sets the bar for all other Internal SSDs at the $140 budget.

The Seagate FireCuda 520 SSD 1TB, however, is merely passable for its price. We suggest taking a look at some better options if you're considering buying a Internal SSD in the $200 range.

The Adata XPG SSD SX8200 Pro 1TB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Internal SSDs for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for M.2 Dollar-for-Performance Value Seekers", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Taking a look at the Seagate FireCuda 520 SSD 1TB, it got featured in roundups from two reliable sources that conduct their own testing - PCWorld and Tom's Hardware - but it fell short of earning a top spot in either.

We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like PCWorld, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.

Then we checked which sources liked these two Internal SSDs best and found that the Adata XPG SSD SX8200 Pro 1TB got its highest, 10, review score from reviewers at Expert Reviews, whereas the Seagate FireCuda 520 SSD 1TB earned its best score of 9 from PCWorld.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Adata XPG SSD SX8200 Pro 1TB and Seagate FireCuda 520 SSD 1TB managed averages of 9.2 and 9.0 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Adata XPG SSD SX8200 Pro 1TB vs. Seagate FireCuda 520 SSD 1TB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
