Addlink S70 Series 256GB vs Samsung 850 EVO Series SSDs

Analysis:

The Addlink S70 Series 512GB is one of the very best Internal SSDs that one can get for around $90. The Samsung 850 EVO M.2 1TB, however, while a very good choice at its $390 price point, falls just short of being remarkable.

The Addlink S70 Series 512GB got praised by Wirecutter (NYTimes) and PCmag - two highly trusted sources that perform in-depth hands-on testing. It was awarded the "Runner Up" title from Wirecutter (NYTimes) and "Best for Extreme Value Seekers" from PCmag in their respective Internal SSD roundups.

As for the Samsung 850 EVO M.2 1TB analysis - it impressed reviewers at Techradar, a source that's known for its objective testing and well-thought-out methodology - it performed great in its "Best SSD for cryptocurrency mining: the best solid state drives for mining Bitcoin and more" roundup and earned the "A brilliant performer for a great price" title.

To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. PCWorld, for example, preferred the Addlink S70 Series 512GB, while PCmag rated both of them the same.

We also took a look at which sources had the best things to say about them. We learned that the Addlink S70 Series 512GB got reviewed the highest by PCWorld - it gave it a rating of 9, while the Samsung 850 EVO M.2 1TB most impressed reviewers at TechSpot, which gave it a score of 9.2.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Addlink S70 Series 512GB and Samsung 850 EVO M.2 1TB managed averages of 8.5 and 8.5 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Addlink S70 Series 512GB vs. Samsung 850 EVO M.2 1TB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
