Addlink S70 Series 256GB vs Samsung 960 Pro Series SSDs

Analysis:

The Addlink S70 Series 512GB makes for an outstanding Internal SSD at $68. The Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB, however, while overall a good product for its asking price, doesn't quite manage to stand out from its competition - there are better Internal SSDs that can be found for around $390 available here.

The Addlink S70 Series 512GB has impressed reviewers from two sources that are among the most highly trusted on the internet, namely Wirecutter (NYTimes) and PCmag. It did great in their objective hands-on roundups - it earned the "Runner Up" and "Best for Extreme Budget Upgraders" awards from Wirecutter (NYTimes) and PCmag, respectively. That's high praise from such reputable sources.

As for the Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB - it was really well-received by reviewers at Laptop Mag, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "Best Laptop SSDs - Internal & External Hard Drive Upgrades" roundup and was named its "Best High-Performance SSD", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like PCWorld, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.

Then we checked which sources liked these two Internal SSDs best and found that the Addlink S70 Series 512GB got its highest, 9, review score from reviewers at PCWorld, whereas the Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB earned its best score of 10 from Expert Reviews.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Addlink S70 Series 512GB and Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB managed averages of 8.5 and 9.1 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Addlink S70 Series 512GB vs. Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
