D-Link DAP-1320 N300 Series (2012) vs Amped Wireless Athena-EX (2016)

The reviewers at PCmag have featured the D-Link DAP-1320 (2012) in their D-Link Wireless N300 Range Extender DAP-1320 Review roundup. However, it fell short of making it to the top of their list.

As for the Amped Wireless Athena-EX RE2600M (2016) - PCmag, a source that conducts reliable hands-on testing, has featured it in its Amped Wireless Athena-EX High Power AC2600 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE2600M) Review roundup. However, it didn't make it to any of the top spots.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Wi-Fi Extenders, including PCmag, preferred the D-Link DAP-1320 (2012) over the Amped Wireless Athena-EX RE2600M (2016).

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The D-Link DAP-1320 (2012) was liked best by PCmag, which gave it a score of 9, while the Amped Wireless Athena-EX RE2600M (2016) got its highest, 8, score from PCmag.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Wi-Fi Extenders on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Wi-Fi Extenders being 7.1 out of 10, whereas the D-Link DAP-1320 (2012) and Amped Wireless Athena-EX RE2600M (2016) managed averages of 9.0 and 8.0 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct D-Link DAP-1320 (2012) vs. Amped Wireless Athena-EX RE2600M (2016) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
