ViewSonic M Series Projectors (2018) vs Anker Nebula Mars (2018)

Analysis:

The ViewSonic M1 is a great Mini Projector for its $289 asking price.

The Anker Nebula Mars 2 (2018), however, while a reasonable product for $499, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Mini Projectors in the $440 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The ViewSonic M1 was loved by reviewers at TechGearLab, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Projectors of 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best Affordable Portable Pico Projector", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the Anker Nebula Mars 2 (2018): it did great in a number of roundups that were conducted by sources that perform their own hands-on testing, such as Reviewed, Expert Reviews, and Android Central - it was dubbed "Top Pick" by Reviewed, "The most versatile portable projector" by Expert Reviews, and "Ranked 1 out of 1" by Android Central, which indicates that it's worthy of consideration.

We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like What Hi-Fi?, and learned that they all showed a preference for the Anker Nebula Mars 2 (2018).

Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Mini Projectors received. We found that the ViewSonic M1 managed to earn a rating of 9 from ProjectorCentral, whereas the Anker Nebula Mars 2 (2018) got its highest, 8, score from reviewers at Techradar.

Lastly, in order to better compare them to the rest of their competition, we averaged out their review scores. The Anker Nebula Mars 2 (2018) managed to get 8.0 out of 10 - considerably better than the 7.1 review average of Mini Projectors in general - whereas the ViewSonic M1 earned 6.6 points.

It should be said that doing a direct ViewSonic M1 vs. Anker Nebula Mars 2 (2018) comparison might not be entirely fair due to the difference in their prices - some sources don't put much weight on value for money and thus tend to give better review scores to more expensive products.
