Aukey PB-Y13 USB-C Battery Packs With PD (2018) vs Anker PowerCore 5000

Analysis:

The Aukey PB-Y13 10,000mAh PD Power Bank is an example of a great USB-C Battery Pack at its $25 budget.

In the case of the Anker PowerCore 5000, however, we weren't able to find enough data to come to any reliable conclusions.

The reviewers at Wirecutter (NYTimes) have featured the Aukey PB-Y13 10,000mAh PD Power Bank in their The Best Portable Chargers and Power Banks for Phones and Tablets roundup. However, it fell short of making it to the top of their list.

As for the Anker PowerCore 5000 - it was really well-received by reviewers at TechGearLab, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best Portable Chargers of 2020" roundup and was named its "Best Bang for The Buck", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

We couldn't find any sources that tested both of these USB-C Battery Packs, so we only analyzed how they performed in reviews from different sites.

We first examined which sources rated each of these best and found that the Aukey PB-Y13 10,000mAh PD Power Bank got its highest, 9.6, rating from Switch Chargers, while the Anker PowerCore 5000 earned its best, 9.6, score from Charger Harbor.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other USB-C Battery Packs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by USB-C Battery Packs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Aukey PB-Y13 10,000mAh PD Power Bank and Anker PowerCore 5000 managed averages of 9.6 and 8.5 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Aukey PB-Y13 10,000mAh PD Power Bank vs. Anker PowerCore 5000 comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
