The Apple iPad mini (2019) was loved by reviewers from numerous highly trusted sources that perform in-depth objective testing, including PCmag, CNET, Laptop Mag, Wirecutter (NYTimes), and Digital Camera World. It did great in their roundups - it was dubbed "Best for Power and Portability" by PCmag, "Expensive, but the best smaller tablet" by CNET, and "Our favorite small tablet" by Laptop Mag. That's high praise coming from sources of such caliber.

Taking a look at the Amazon Fire 7 (2019), we found that it was received really well by reviewers from highly trusted sources that conduct objective in-depth testing, including PCmag, Laptop Mag, and CNET - it was named "Best for Rock-Bottom Price" by PCmag, "Best cheap Amazon tablet overall" by Laptop Mag, and "The most affordable tablet" by CNET in their respective roundups. Any product that's praised by this many of the internet's most trustworthy sources should be considered by everyone who's in the market for a Tablet at this price point.

To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. TrustedReviews, Notebookcheck.net, The Verge, PCmag, Digitaltrends, Techradar, and Laptop Mag, for example, preferred the Apple iPad mini (2019), while Tech Advisor and Expert Reviews rated both of them the same.
