Apple iPhone 8/8 Plus (2017) vs Samsung Galaxy S7 (2016)

Analysis:

The Apple iPhone 8 Plus has done really well in a number of roundups conducted by sources that perform their own hands-on testing, such as slashgear.com, Expert Reviews, Gear Patrol, and GadgetMatch - it was awarded the "Best in iOS" title by slashgear.com, "Ranked 2 out of 3" by Expert Reviews, and "Ranked 1 out of 5" by Gear Patrol. That's high praise from reliable sources.

Returning to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (2016), PCmag, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Ranked 1 out of 10" in its "The Best Phones and Tablets of MWC 2016" roundup, which is quite a feat.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Smartphones, PhoneArena and Top Ten Reviews preferred the Apple iPhone 8 Plus, whereas reviewers at TrustedReviews, Expert Reviews, T3, Techradar, CNET, and PCmag liked the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (2016) better. What Hi-Fi?, ePHOTOzine, and The Telegraph gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Apple iPhone 8 Plus rating came from What Hi-Fi?, whereas the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (2016) most impressed reviewers at TrustedReviews; they earned scores of 10 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Smartphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Smartphones being 7.5 out of 10, whereas the Apple iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (2016) managed averages of 8.3 and 9.2 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Apple iPhone 8 Plus vs. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (2016) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
