ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 vs ASUS Rog Rapture GT-AC5300 Series (2017)

The ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 is a great Wi-Fi Router for its $119 asking price.

The ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC5300, however, while a reasonable product for $489, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Wi-Fi Routers in the $410 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 was loved by reviewers at CNET, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The 4 Best Gaming Routers of 2023" roundup where it was named its "Best for die-hard gamers", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC5300: it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like PCmag, CNET, TrustedReviews, Tom's Hardware, and Windows Central, enough for them to include them on those lists.

We couldn't find any sources that tested both of these Wi-Fi Routers, so we only analyzed how they performed in reviews from different sites.

We first examined which sources rated each of these best and found that the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 got its highest, 9.1, rating from tweaktown.com, while the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 earned its best, 9, score from Lifewire.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Wi-Fi Routers on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Wi-Fi Routers being 7.4 out of 10, whereas the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 and ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 managed averages of 9.0 and 8.1 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 vs. ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
