AOC I series USB monitors (2017) vs Asus Rog Strix XG 4K monitors (2019)
The AOC I1601FWUX 16" makes for a good, if unremarkable, Monitor for people with a $220 budget.
The ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43", however, is merely mediocre at its $1481 asking price, when compared to similarly priced products, and won't satisfy the needs of most people.
In either case, we suggest that you first take a look at some other options at the $220 and $1,300 price points before committing to one of these - it's likely that you'll be able to find some better alternatives.
If you're still interested in learning more about the AOC I1601FWUX 16" and ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43", however, we wrote a summary of what we could find about them:
The AOC I1601FWUX 16" managed to impress reviewers from two reliable and unbiased sources that conduct their own hands-on testing, namely Expert Reviews, PCmag, and Digital Camera World. It performed great in their roundups - it earned the "The best budget portable monitor" title from Expert Reviews and "Best for Budget-Conscious Road Warriors" from PCmag, which makes it a product worthy of consideration.
As for the ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43" - it was really well-received by reviewers at PCmag, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best 4K Monitors for 2021" roundup and was named its "Best for Hardcore Giant-Screen Gamers", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.
We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like PCmag, and learned that they all showed a preference for the ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43".
Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Monitors received. We found that the AOC I1601FWUX 16" managed to earn a rating of 7 from PCmag, whereas the ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43" got its highest, 9.6, score from reviewers at MonitorNerds.
Finally, we calculated their average review scores from all of the data we could find and compared those to Monitors in general. It turns out that the ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43", with its 8.6 average, got reviewed considerably better than most of its competition - the overall average for Monitors being 7.3 out of 10 points - whereas the AOC I1601FWUX 16" performed worse than most, with an average review score of 6.0.
However, it's worth pointing out that a direct AOC I1601FWUX 16" vs. ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43" comparison might not be entirely fair, because some sources have a tendency of not taking value for money into account when reviewing products.
