MSI Optix MAG series monitors 2020 vs Asus Rog Strix XG 4K monitors (2019)
The MSI Optix MAG MAG273R makes for a good, if unremarkable, Monitor for people with a $320 budget.
The ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43", however, is merely mediocre at its $1481 asking price, when compared to similarly priced products, and won't satisfy the needs of most people.
In either case, we suggest that you first take a look at some other options at the $320 and $1,300 price points before committing to one of these - it's likely that you'll be able to find some better alternatives.
If you're still interested in learning more about the MSI Optix MAG MAG273R and ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43", however, we wrote a summary of what we could find about them:
The MSI Optix MAG MAG273R was loved by reviewers at Rtings, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The 7 Best 27 Inch Monitors - Winter 2021" roundup where it was named its "Runner Up for Best Budget 27 Inch Monitor - Cheaper Alternative", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.
Returning to the ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43", PCmag, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Best for Hardcore Giant-Screen Gamers" in its "The Best 4K Monitors for 2021" roundup, which is quite a feat.
We couldn't find any sources that tested both of these Monitors, so we only analyzed how they performed in reviews from different sites.
We first examined which sources rated each of these best and found that the MSI Optix MAG MAG273R got its highest, 8, rating from Tom's Hardware, while the ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43" earned its best, 9.6, score from MonitorNerds.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Monitors on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Monitors being 7.3 out of 10, whereas the MSI Optix MAG MAG273R and ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43" managed averages of 7.9 and 8.6 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct MSI Optix MAG MAG273R vs. ASUS Rog Strix XG438Q 43" comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
