Blue Snowball iCE(2015) vs Blue Yeti Pro (2011)

Analysis:

The Blue Snowball iCE Condenser Microphone (2015) makes for an outstanding USB Microphone at $49. The Blue Yeti Pro 1967 (2011), however, while overall a good product for its asking price, doesn't quite manage to stand out from its competition - there are better USB Microphones that can be found for around $240 available here.

The Blue Snowball iCE Condenser Microphone (2015) has done great in quite a few roundups from some of the most highly trusted sources available, such as SoundGuys, Tom's Guide, and PCmag, which perform high-quality in-depth testing. It got awarded the "Top Pick" title by SoundGuys, "The best budget microphone" by Tom's Guide, and "Best for Recording on a Budget" by PCmag in their respective roundups. Earning that much praise from such respected sources is undoubtedly an impressive accomplishment.

As for the Blue Yeti Pro 1967 (2011) - it impressed reviewers at The Verge, a trustworthy source that conducts solid hands-on testing. It did great in its "The best microphones to start podcasting with" roundup - in fact, it earned its "Ranked 2 out of 14" title, which, on its own, indicates a certain level of quality.

We couldn't find any sources that tested both of these USB Microphones, so we only analyzed how they performed in reviews from different sites.

We first examined which sources rated each of these best and found that the Blue Snowball iCE Condenser Microphone (2015) got its highest, 8, rating from PCmag, while the Blue Yeti Pro 1967 (2011) earned its best, 10, score from Expert Reviews.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other USB Microphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by USB Microphones being 7.7 out of 10, whereas the Blue Snowball iCE Condenser Microphone (2015) and Blue Yeti Pro 1967 (2011) managed averages of 8.0 and 8.7 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Blue Snowball iCE Condenser Microphone (2015) vs. Blue Yeti Pro 1967 (2011) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
