beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro vs Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014)

Analysis:

The beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro is an example of a great Closed-Back Headphone at its $55 budget.

In the case of the Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014), however, we weren't able to find enough data to come to any reliable conclusions.

The beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Studio Headphones for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Budget-Minded Audiophiles", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for our Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) analysis - two highly trusted sources that perform well-thought-out hands-on testing have found it to be a great product - it earned the "Excellent noise cancellation for cheap" and "Best Wired Headphones For Casual Use" awards from Tom's Guide and Rtings, respectively, which is quite an impressive feat.

We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like Techradar, PCmag, and Head-fi, and learned that they all showed a preference for the Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014).

Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Closed-Back Headphones received. We found that the beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro managed to earn a rating of 8.4 from Headfonics, whereas the Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) got its highest, 10, score from reviewers at Tom's Guide.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Closed-Back Headphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Closed-Back Headphones being 7.4 out of 10, whereas the beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro and Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) managed averages of 7.9 and 8.7 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro vs. Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
