Skullcandy Riff Wireless vs Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014)

Analysis:

The Skullcandy Riff Wireless is an example of a great On-Ear Headphone at its $50 budget.

In the case of the Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014), however, we weren't able to find enough data to come to any reliable conclusions.

The Skullcandy Riff Wireless was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best On-Ear/Over-Ear Headphones for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Budget-Minded Bass Fans", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014), it managed to impress reviewers from some of the internet's most highly trusted sources, Tom's Guide and Rtings. It performed great in their hands-on roundups - it was named "Excellent noise cancellation for cheap" by Tom's Guide and "Best Wired Headphones For Casual Use" by Rtings. That's quite an achievement, especially coming from such high-quality sources.

We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like PCmag, and learned that they all showed a preference for the Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014).

Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two On-Ear Headphones received. We found that the Skullcandy Riff Wireless managed to earn a rating of 8 from Android Central, whereas the Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) got its highest, 10, score from reviewers at Tom's Guide.

Lastly, in order to better compare them to the rest of their competition, we averaged out their review scores. The Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) managed to get 8.7 out of 10 - considerably better than the 7.4 review average of On-Ear Headphones in general - whereas the Skullcandy Riff Wireless earned 7.3 points.

It should be said that doing a direct Skullcandy Riff Wireless vs. Bose QuietComfort 25 (2014) comparison might not be entirely fair due to the difference in their prices - some sources don't put much weight on value for money and thus tend to give better review scores to more expensive products.
