Sonos Move (2019) vs Bose SoundLink Mini 2 (2015)
The Sonos Move was loved by reviewers from numerous highly trusted sources that perform in-depth objective testing, including PCmag, TechGearLab, Tom's Guide, Consumer Reports, Rtings, SoundGuys, and Wirecutter. It did great in their roundups - it was dubbed "Best Portable Sonos Speaker" by PCmag, "Best for Indoor/Outdoor Use" by TechGearLab, and "A more powerful alternative to the Sonos Roam" by Tom's Guide. That's high praise coming from sources of such caliber.
Moving on to the Bose SoundLink Mini 2: it was loved by nextpit.com and MakeUseOf - two reliable sources that conduct their own in-depth testing. In fact, it was named "Best Bluetooth speaker for sound quality" and "Ranked 1 out of 3" in their respective roundups, which points to it being a product worthy of consideration.
Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Smart Speakers, Tom's Guide preferred the Sonos Move, whereas reviewers at What Hi-Fi? and CNET liked the Bose SoundLink Mini 2 better. TechGearLab, Expert Reviews, Techradar, and PCmag gave them identical review scores.
We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Sonos Move rating came from TechGearLab, whereas the Bose SoundLink Mini 2 most impressed reviewers at TechGearLab; they earned scores of 10 and 10, respectively.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Smart Speakers on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Smart Speakers being 7.4 out of 10, whereas the Sonos Move and Bose SoundLink Mini 2 managed averages of 8.6 and 8.5 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Sonos Move vs. Bose SoundLink Mini 2 comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
