Bowers & Wilkins PX5 vs Master & Dynamic MW60

Analysis:

The Bowers & Wilkins PX5 makes for a good, if unremarkable, Closed-Back Headphone for people with a $200 budget.

The Master & Dynamic MW60, however, is merely mediocre at its $399 asking price, when compared to similarly priced products, and won't satisfy the needs of most people.

In either case, we suggest that you first take a look at some other options at the $200 and $310 price points before committing to one of these - it's likely that you'll be able to find some better alternatives.

If you're still interested in learning more about the Bowers & Wilkins PX5 and Master & Dynamic MW60, however, we wrote a summary of what we could find about them:

The Bowers & Wilkins PX5 was loved by reviewers at Rtings, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The 6 Best On-Ear Wireless Headphones - Winter 2021" roundup where it was named its "Best Noise Cancelling On-Ear Wireless Headphones", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the Master & Dynamic MW60: it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like SoundGuys, Head-fi, Headphone Review, CNET, PCmag, Wirecutter (NYTimes), and Audioholics, enough for them to include them on those lists.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Closed-Back Headphones, including Headphone Review and PCmag, preferred the Bowers & Wilkins PX5 over the Master & Dynamic MW60.

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Bowers & Wilkins PX5 was liked best by T3, which gave it a score of 10, while the Master & Dynamic MW60 got its highest, 9, score from SoundGuys.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Closed-Back Headphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Closed-Back Headphones being 7.4 out of 10, whereas the Bowers & Wilkins PX5 and Master & Dynamic MW60 managed averages of 8.2 and 8.1 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Bowers & Wilkins PX5 vs. Master & Dynamic MW60 comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
