The Canon EOS RP (2019) impressed reviewers from numerous sources that do high-quality in-depth testing, such as Rtings, PCmag, Digital Camera World, The Phoblographer, and Digital Photography Review. It performed amazingly well in their roundups - it was dubbed "Best Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera Under $1,000" by Rtings, "Best Affordable Full-Frame Model" by PCmag, and "Ranked 2 out of 6" by Digital Camera World. That, by itself, suggests that it's an excellent product.
Returning to the Fujifilm X-E3 (2017), The Phoblographer, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Ranked 1 out of 10" in its "Popular Photography Gear: Fujifilm, Tamron Top Our List for July 2020" roundup, which is quite a feat.
Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Mirrorless Cameras, Tom's Guide preferred the Canon EOS RP (2019), whereas reviewers at Digital Camera World, Photography Blog, TrustedReviews, Digital Photography Review, and Digitaltrends liked the Fujifilm X-E3 (2017) better. ePHOTOzine, Techradar, and PCmag gave them identical review scores.
We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Canon EOS RP (2019) rating came from ePHOTOzine, whereas the Fujifilm X-E3 (2017) most impressed reviewers at Digital Camera World; they earned scores of 9 and 9, respectively.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Mirrorless Cameras on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Mirrorless Cameras being 7.9 out of 10, whereas the Canon EOS RP (2019) and Fujifilm X-E3 (2017) managed averages of 8.0 and 8.5 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Canon EOS RP (2019) vs. Fujifilm X-E3 (2017) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
