The Canon EOS RP (2019) is a great Mirrorless Camera for its $999 asking price.
The Sony α6600 (2019), however, while a reasonable product for $1398, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Mirrorless Cameras in the $1,400 range, you might want to check out some better options.
The Canon EOS RP (2019) has done great in quite a few roundups from some of the most highly trusted sources available, such as Rtings, Digital Camera World, and Digital Photography Review, which perform high-quality in-depth testing. It got awarded the "Best Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera Under $1,000" title by Rtings, "Ranked 1 out of 7" by Digital Camera World, and "Ranked 3 out of 4" by Digital Photography Review in their respective roundups. Earning that much praise from such respected sources is undoubtedly an impressive accomplishment.
Taking a look at the Sony α6600 (2019), we found that it was liked by some of the most highly trusted sources, such as Tom's Guide, Wirecutter, and Digital Photography Review - it was named "The best mirrorless camera for video" by Tom's Guide, "Best vlog-camera image quality for the money: Sony α6600" by Wirecutter, and "Ranked 2 out of 2" by Digital Photography Review.
Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Mirrorless Cameras, Techradar and DXOMARK preferred the Canon EOS RP (2019), whereas reviewers at Tom's Guide, Rtings, and cameralabs.com liked the Sony α6600 (2019) better. ePHOTOzine, Digital Photography Review, PCmag, Expert Reviews, TrustedReviews, T3, Digital Camera World, and camerajabber.com gave them identical review scores.
We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Canon EOS RP (2019) rating came from ePHOTOzine, whereas the Sony α6600 (2019) most impressed reviewers at ePHOTOzine; they earned scores of 9 and 9, respectively.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Mirrorless Cameras on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Mirrorless Cameras being 7.9 out of 10, whereas the Canon EOS RP (2019) and Sony α6600 (2019) managed averages of 8.1 and 8.2 points, respectively.
