Canon Pixma MG3620 vs Brother MFC-J693X (2016)

Analysis:

The Canon Pixma MG3620 is a great Home Printer for its $79 asking price.

The Brother MFC-J6930DW, however, while a reasonable product for $676, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Home Printers in the $790 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The Canon Pixma MG3620 has impressed reviewers from two sources that are among the most highly trusted on the internet, namely Tom's Guide and Rtings. It did great in their objective hands-on roundups - it earned the "Top budget pick" and "Runner Up for Best Family Printer Under $100 - Alternative With Better Printing Features" awards from Tom's Guide and Rtings, respectively. That's high praise from such reputable sources.

As for the Brother MFC-J6930DW - it impressed reviewers at Windows Central, a trustworthy source that conducts solid hands-on testing. It did great in its "Best Inkjet Printers in 2021" roundup - in fact, it earned its "Ranked 2 out of 6" title, which, on its own, indicates a certain level of quality.

We couldn't find any sources that tested both of these Home Printers, so we only analyzed how they performed in reviews from different sites.

We first examined which sources rated each of these best and found that the Canon Pixma MG3620 got its highest, 8.8, rating from Gadget Review, while the Brother MFC-J6930DW earned its best, 9, score from PCmag.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Home Printers on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Home Printers being 7.1 out of 10, whereas the Canon Pixma MG3620 and Brother MFC-J6930DW managed averages of 8.8 and 8.5 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Canon Pixma MG3620 vs. Brother MFC-J6930DW comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
