Canon Pixma MG3620 vs Epson WorkForce WF-7720

Analysis:

The Canon Pixma MG3620 is a great Home Printer for its $79 asking price.

The Epson WorkForce WF-7710, however, while a reasonable product for $899, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Home Printers in the $910 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The Canon Pixma MG3620 got praised by Tom's Guide and Rtings - two highly trusted sources that perform in-depth hands-on testing. It was awarded the "Top budget pick" title from Tom's Guide and "Runner Up for Best Family Printer Under $100 - Alternative With Better Printing Features" from Rtings in their respective Home Printer roundups.

As for the Epson WorkForce WF-7710, it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at Rtings, PCmag, inews.co.uk, and Android Central enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.

We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like Gadget Review, and learned that they all showed a preference for the Epson WorkForce WF-7710.

Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Home Printers received. We found that the Canon Pixma MG3620 managed to earn a rating of 8.8 from Gadget Review, whereas the Epson WorkForce WF-7710 got its highest, 9, score from reviewers at Gadget Review.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Home Printers on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Home Printers being 7.1 out of 10, whereas the Canon Pixma MG3620 and Epson WorkForce WF-7710 managed averages of 8.8 and 7.7 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Canon Pixma MG3620 vs. Epson WorkForce WF-7710 comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
