Epson SureColor P600 (2014) vs Canon Pixma MG5 (2014)

Analysis:

The Epson SureColor P600 is a great Home Printer for its $2598 asking price.

The Canon Pixma MG5620, on the other hand, is not worth its $484 price tag and should be avoided by most people. We strongly suggest that you take a look at some better alternatives if you're considering spending around $630 on a Home Printer.

Two highly trusted sources that perform well-thought-out in-depth testing consider the Epson SureColor P600 to be a great product - it earned the "Top Pick" title from Wirecutter (NYTimes) and "Top Pick" from TechGearLab in their respective Home Printer roundups, which is a good indication of it being a notable product.

As for the Canon Pixma MG5620, it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at Tom's Guide, CNET, and PCmag enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Home Printers, including PCmag, preferred the Epson SureColor P600 over the Canon Pixma MG5620.

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Epson SureColor P600 was liked best by TechGearLab, which gave it a score of 10, while the Canon Pixma MG5620 got its highest, 8, score from Tom's Guide.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Epson SureColor P600, with its 8.9 average, performed considerably better than most Home Printers - the mean score for the product category being 7.1 out of 10 - while the Canon Pixma MG5620 managed an average of 7.0.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Epson SureColor P600 vs. Canon Pixma MG5620 review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
