Sony MDR-XB50AP vs CCA C12

Analysis:

The Sony MDR-XB50AP makes for a good, if unremarkable, Earphone for people with a $30 budget.

The CCA C12, however, is merely mediocre at its $48 asking price, when compared to similarly priced products, and won't satisfy the needs of most people.

In either case, we suggest that you first take a look at some other options at the $30 and $50 price points before committing to one of these - it's likely that you'll be able to find some better alternatives.

If you're still interested in learning more about the Sony MDR-XB50AP and CCA C12, however, we wrote a summary of what we could find about them:

The Sony MDR-XB50AP was loved by reviewers at Tom's Guide, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The best cheap earbuds in 2020" roundup where it was named its "Sony sound at an unbeatable value", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the CCA C12 - Head-fi, a source that conducts reliable hands-on testing, has featured it in its CCA C12 review roundup. However, it didn't make it to any of the top spots.

We couldn't find any sources that tested both of these Earphones, so we only analyzed how they performed in reviews from different sites.

We first examined which sources rated each of these best and found that the Sony MDR-XB50AP got its highest, 5.9, rating from Rtings, while the CCA C12 earned its best, 9.3, score from Head-fi.

Finally, we calculated their average review scores from all of the data we could find and compared those to Earphones in general. It turns out that the CCA C12, with its 9.3 average, got reviewed considerably better than most of its competition - the overall average for Earphones being 7.3 out of 10 points - whereas the Sony MDR-XB50AP performed worse than most, with an average review score of 5.9.

However, it's worth pointing out that a direct Sony MDR-XB50AP vs. CCA C12 comparison might not be entirely fair, because some sources have a tendency of not taking value for money into account when reviewing products.
