Samsung 850 EVO Series SSDs vs Crucial P1 Series SSDs

Analysis:

The Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB and Crucial SSD P1 1TB make for very strong choices and are great Internal SSDs for their respective $149 and $104 asking prices. Depending on how much you're willing to spend, either of these options will serve you well.

The Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB was loved by reviewers at Laptop Mag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Newegg Deals" roundup where it was named its "Ranked 1 out of 5", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the Crucial SSD P1 1TB - it was really well-received by reviewers at PCmag, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best PCI Express NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) for 2020" roundup and was named its "Best for Budget Buyers Seeking Raw Capacity", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Internal SSDs, PCmag preferred the Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB, whereas reviewers at Expert Reviews liked the Crucial SSD P1 1TB better. PCWorld gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB rating came from TechSpot, whereas the Crucial SSD P1 1TB most impressed reviewers at Expert Reviews; they earned scores of 9.2 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB, with its 8.5 average, performed considerably better than most Internal SSDs - the mean score for the product category being 7.8 out of 10 - while the Crucial SSD P1 1TB managed an average of 7.2.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB vs. Crucial SSD P1 1TB review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
