Samsung 860 EVO Series SSDs vs Crucial P1 Series SSDs

Analysis:

The Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2.5" 250GB and Crucial SSD P1 1TB make for very strong choices and are great Internal SSDs for their respective $49 and $104 asking prices. Depending on how much you're willing to spend, either of these options will serve you well.

The Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2.5" 250GB was highly praised by reviewers from numerous sources that perform their own objective hands-on testing, including Reviewed, Windows Central, Tom's Hardware, Android Central, and Expert Reviews. It did great in their roundups - it was dubbed "Top Pick" by Reviewed, "Top Pick" by Windows Central, and "Best Consumer SATA SSD" by Tom's Hardware. That alone makes it at least worth considering.

Returning to the Crucial SSD P1 1TB, PCmag, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Best for Budget Buyers Seeking Raw Capacity" in its "The Best PCI Express NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) for 2020" roundup, which is quite a feat.

We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like Expert Reviews and PCWorld, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.

Then we checked which sources liked these two Internal SSDs best and found that the Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2.5" 250GB got its highest, 10, review score from reviewers at Expert Reviews, whereas the Crucial SSD P1 1TB earned its best score of 10 from Expert Reviews.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2.5" 250GB, with its 8.8 average, performed considerably better than most Internal SSDs - the mean score for the product category being 7.8 out of 10 - while the Crucial SSD P1 1TB managed an average of 7.2.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2.5" 250GB vs. Crucial SSD P1 1TB review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
