Crucial P1 Series SSDs vs Samsung 860 Pro Series SSDs

Analysis:

The Crucial SSD P1 500GB is a great Internal SSD for its $59 asking price.

The Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB, however, while a reasonable product for $299, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Internal SSDs in the $290 range, you might want to check out some better options.

The Crucial SSD P1 500GB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best PCI Express NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Budget Buyers Seeking Raw Capacity", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB: it did great in a number of roundups that were conducted by sources that perform their own hands-on testing, such as Tom's Hardware, Windows Central, and Techradar - it was dubbed "Best Prosumer SATA SSD" by Tom's Hardware, "Our SSD pick" by Windows Central, and "The best SATA SSD is cheaper than you think" by Techradar, which indicates that it's worthy of consideration.

We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like PCWorld and PCmag, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.

Then we checked which sources liked these two Internal SSDs best and found that the Crucial SSD P1 500GB got its highest, 10, review score from reviewers at Expert Reviews, whereas the Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB earned its best score of 9 from Techradar.

Lastly, in order to better compare them to the rest of their competition, we averaged out their review scores. The Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB managed to get 8.2 out of 10 - considerably better than the 7.8 review average of Internal SSDs in general - whereas the Crucial SSD P1 500GB earned 7.2 points.

It should be said that doing a direct Crucial SSD P1 500GB vs. Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB comparison might not be entirely fair due to the difference in their prices - some sources don't put much weight on value for money and thus tend to give better review scores to more expensive products.
