The LG 27GL83A 27" is a great Monitor for its $286 asking price.
The Dell UltraSharp U2718Q 27", however, while a reasonable product for $648, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Monitors in the $670 range, you might want to check out some better options.
The LG 27GL83A 27" was loved by reviewers at Rtings, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The 4 Best 1440p 144Hz Monitors - Winter 2023" roundup where it was named its "Best Cheap 1440p 144Hz Monitor", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.
As for the Dell UltraSharp U2718Q 27", it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at MakeUseOf, Rtings, and camerajabber.com enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.
We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like Rtings, and learned that they all showed a preference for the Dell UltraSharp U2718Q 27".
Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Monitors received. We found that the LG 27GL83A 27" managed to earn a rating of 7.6 from Rtings, whereas the Dell UltraSharp U2718Q 27" got its highest, 8, score from reviewers at MonitorNerds.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Monitors on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Monitors being 7.3 out of 10, whereas the LG 27GL83A 27" and Dell UltraSharp U2718Q 27" managed averages of 7.6 and 7.8 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct LG 27GL83A 27" vs. Dell UltraSharp U2718Q 27" comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
