DJI Tello (2018) vs DJI Inspire 2 (2017)
The DJI Tello (2018) makes for an outstanding Drone at $99. The DJI Inspire 2 (2017), however, while overall a good product for its asking price, doesn't quite manage to stand out from its competition - there are better Drones that can be found for around $3,300 available here.
The DJI Tello (2018) managed to impress reviewers from many of the internet's most highly trusted sources, including TechGearLab, Wirecutter (NYTimes), CNET, Tom's Guide, and Digital Camera World. It performed really well in their Drone roundups - it was named "Top Pick" by TechGearLab, "Top Pick" by Wirecutter (NYTimes), and "Best beginner drone" by CNET. That's high praise coming from sources that conduct in-depth hands-on testing.
As for the DJI Inspire 2 (2017), it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at PCmag, Techradar, Digital Camera World, and Android Authority enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.
We analyzed all of the review data that we could find on these two Drones. First, we examined sources that tested and scored both of these products - PCmag and Techradar favored the DJI Inspire 2 (2017) over the DJI Tello (2018), whereas reviewers at Gadget Review haven't shown a preference for either.
Then we took a look at which sources liked them the most - we found that the DJI Tello (2018) was best received by Gadget Review - it gave it a score of 9.2, whereas the DJI Inspire 2 (2017) got its highest score of 9.2 from reviewers at Gadget Review.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Drones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Drones being 7.7 out of 10, whereas the DJI Tello (2018) and DJI Inspire 2 (2017) managed averages of 8.3 and 8.8 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct DJI Tello (2018) vs. DJI Inspire 2 (2017) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
