DJI Mavic Air (2018) vs Syma X5C
The DJI Mavic Air is a great Drone for its $519 asking price.
The Syma X5C, however, while a reasonable product for $53, doesn't stack up against its competitors quite as well. If you're considering Drones in the $40 range, you might want to check out some better options.
The DJI Mavic Air has done really well in a number of roundups conducted by sources that perform their own hands-on testing, such as TrustedReviews, Expert Reviews, MakeUseOf, and reviewgeek.com - it was awarded the "Still the best sub-£1000 drone you can buy" title by TrustedReviews, "Ranked 2 out of 5" by Expert Reviews, and "Ranked 3 out of 7" by MakeUseOf. That's high praise from reliable sources.
As for the Syma X5C, it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at CNET, MakeUseOf, and techadvisor.com enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.
When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Drones, including CNET, preferred the DJI Mavic Air over the Syma X5C.
We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The DJI Mavic Air was liked best by TechGearLab, which gave it a score of 10, while the Syma X5C got its highest, 8.4, score from Lifewire.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Drones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Drones being 7.7 out of 10, whereas the DJI Mavic Air and Syma X5C managed averages of 9.0 and 8.4 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct DJI Mavic Air vs. Syma X5C comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
