The Parrot Mambo is a small toy drone that’s fun to play with and easy enough to fly, making it a great choice for kids. It’s a quality device that's worth its higher asking price when compared to other toy drones.
The Mambo is light and small enough to be flown indoors. The drone has great flight stability, thanks to its 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, and ultrasound sensor, which are uncommon features for a toy drone and can even perform some air stunts, thanks to its speed and maneuverability.
It's controlled using a smartphone or tablet app that pairs to the drone via Bluetooth. The app is easy to use and includes features such as automated takeoff and landing.
The drone's default camera is extremely modest - it’s only capable of taking mediocre 0.3 MP pictures.
The Parrot Mambo is sold in four different bundles - the barebones Fly, the Mission, the FPV, and the Code.
The Mambo Mission includes some fun add-ons, like a cannon that fires small plastic balls and a pincer for picking up objects that can be remotely controlled when connected to the drone. The package also includes Parrot’s Flypad remote, which increases the control distance to 330 ft.
This remote is also included in the Mambo FPV package along with FPV goggles that pilots can use to fly their drone in first-person mode, after equipping it with the included FPV camera, which can record 720p at 30 fps.
The Mambo Code includes a 6-month subscription to Tynker, a coding platform for kids, and comes with learning materials on drones, robotics, and lessons on how to write code to command the drone.
