HyperX Alloy Elite 2 vs Drop CTRL (2018)

Analysis:

The HyperX Alloy Elite 2 and Drop CTRL (2018) make for good, if unremarkable, Wired Keyboards at their respective budgets.

With that said, while they both should serve reasonably well, you might want to look into other options at the $310 and $190 price points - it's likely that there are some better alternatives available.

If you want to learn more about the HyperX Alloy Elite 2 and the Drop CTRL (2018), however, we prepared a summary of the information that we have:

The HyperX Alloy Elite 2 was loved by reviewers at CNET, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "Best gaming keyboard for 2021" roundup where it was named its "Ranked 2 out of 8", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for our Drop CTRL (2018) analysis - two highly trusted sources that perform well-thought-out hands-on testing have found it to be a great product - it earned the "Best customization in a snap" and "Other great mechanical keyboards" awards from Laptop Mag and Wirecutter (NYTimes), respectively, which is quite an impressive feat.

We couldn't find any sources that tested both of these Wired Keyboards, so we only analyzed how they performed in reviews from different sites.

We first examined which sources rated each of these best and found that the HyperX Alloy Elite 2 got its highest, 8.5, rating from idg.com.au, while the Drop CTRL (2018) earned its best, 7, score from Tom's Guide.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the HyperX Alloy Elite 2, with its 7.8 average, performed considerably better than most Wired Keyboards - the mean score for the product category being 7.4 out of 10 - while the Drop CTRL (2018) managed an average of 7.0.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct HyperX Alloy Elite 2 vs. Drop CTRL (2018) review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
