Analysis:

The Kinesis Freestyle Edge RGB (2019) makes for an outstanding Wired Keyboard at its $200 price point. The Drop CTRL (2018), however, while a good product overall, doesn't really manage to stand out from its competition.

The Kinesis Freestyle Edge RGB (2019) has done great in quite a few roundups from some of the most highly trusted sources available, such as Wirecutter (NYTimes), PCmag, Rtings, and Laptop Mag, which perform high-quality in-depth testing. It got awarded the "Top Pick" title by Wirecutter (NYTimes), "Best for Ergonomically Minded Gamers" by PCmag, and "Best Ergonomic Keyboard For Programming" by Rtings in their respective roundups. Earning that much praise from such respected sources is undoubtedly an impressive accomplishment.

Returning to the Drop CTRL (2018), it managed to impress reviewers from two sources that are considered to be some of the most highly trusted on the internet, thanks to their in-depth hands-on testing - Laptop Mag and Wirecutter (NYTimes). It performed great in their respective Wired Keyboard roundups - it was named "Best customization in a snap" by Laptop Mag and "Other great mechanical keyboards" by Wirecutter (NYTimes). That's quite an endorsement, especially coming from such high-quality sources.

We tried doing a direct Kinesis Freestyle Edge RGB (2019) vs. Drop CTRL (2018) review score comparison but couldn't find any sources that tested both.

Next, we took a look at which sources liked them best and found that the Kinesis Freestyle Edge RGB (2019) most impressed the reviewers at PCmag, who gave it a score of 8, whereas the Drop CTRL (2018) did best in its Tom's Guide review - it scored 7 points.

Lastly, we compared their review averages and found that the Kinesis Freestyle Edge RGB (2019) did much better than the majority of its competitors, with an average review score of 8.0 out of 10, compared to the 7.4 overall average of Wired Keyboards in general, whereas the Drop CTRL (2018) hasn't managed to perform quite as well, with an average rating of 7.0.
