Brother HL-L23XX (2014) vs Epson Expression Home XP-430 (2016)

The Brother HL-L2300D makes for a good, if unremarkable, Home Printer for people with a $120 budget.

The Epson Expression Home XP-430, however, is merely mediocre at its $274 asking price, when compared to similarly priced products, and won't satisfy the needs of most people.

Taking a look at the Epson Expression Home XP-430, it got featured in roundups from two reliable sources that conduct their own testing - CNET and PCmag - but it fell short of earning a top spot in either.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Home Printers, including PCmag, preferred the Brother HL-L2300D over the Epson Expression Home XP-430.

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Brother HL-L2300D was liked best by Techradar, which gave it a score of 10, while the Epson Expression Home XP-430 got its highest, 8, score from CNET.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Brother HL-L2300D, with its 8.6 average, performed considerably better than most Home Printers - the mean score for the product category being 7.1 out of 10 - while the Epson Expression Home XP-430 managed an average of 7.0.
