Epson Home Cinema 5050 vs ViewSonic M Series Projectors (2018)

Analysis:

The Epson Home Cinema 5050UB is one of the very best Home Projectors that one can get for around $2,800. The ViewSonic M1, however, while a very good choice at its $280 price point, falls just short of being remarkable.

The Epson Home Cinema 5050UB was loved by reviewers at Wirecutter, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Projector for a Home Theater" roundup where it was named its "Budget pick", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the ViewSonic M1, it was really well-received by reviewers at TechGearLab, a reliable source that's known for conducting its own, high-quality, in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best Projectors of 2020" roundup and was named its "Best Affordable Portable Pico Projector", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Home Projectors, including ProjectorCentral, preferred the Epson Home Cinema 5050UB over the ViewSonic M1.

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Epson Home Cinema 5050UB was liked best by ProjectorCentral, which gave it a score of 10, while the ViewSonic M1 got its highest, 9, score from ProjectorCentral.

Lastly, in order to better compare them to their competition, we averaged out their review scores and found that the Epson Home Cinema 5050UB got received considerably better than the majority of other Home Projectors - it earned an average of 9.3 out of 10 points, compared to the 8.0 overall rating of other Home Projectors - while the ViewSonic M1 performed worse than most of its competitors, with its average review score of 6.6.

It's worth keeping in mind, however, that a direct Epson Home Cinema 5050UB vs. ViewSonic M1 comparison might not be realistic since they're priced differently and some sources have a tendency to review more expensive products better than cheaper ones.
