Etymotic ER2XR vs MEE audio P1
The Etymotic ER2XR is a relatively good In-Ear Monitor for people that are willing to spend around $95. The MEE audio P1, by contrast, is quite unremarkable and doesn't stand out in any meaningful way from other products at this price point.
In both cases, however, we recommend that you take look at some other options at the $95 and $290 budget ranges; in all likelihood you'll find some better alternatives.
If you're still interested in learning more about the Etymotic ER2XR and MEE audio P1, however, we wrote a summary of what we know about them:
The Etymotic ER2XR managed to earn a spot in roundups from two sources that are known for their trustworthy review methodology - Head-fi and headphonesaddict.com - but fell short of making it to the top of their lists.
As for the MEE audio P1, it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at Head-fi, HomeTheaterReview.com, and What Hi-Fi? enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.
We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like Head-fi, and learned that they all showed a preference for the MEE audio P1.
Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two In-Ear Monitors received. We found that the Etymotic ER2XR managed to earn a rating of 8.9 from Head-fi, whereas the MEE audio P1 got its highest, 9, score from reviewers at Head-fi.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other In-Ear Monitors on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by In-Ear Monitors being 7.7 out of 10, whereas the Etymotic ER2XR and MEE audio P1 managed averages of 8.9 and 8.7 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Etymotic ER2XR vs. MEE audio P1 comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
