Analysis:

The Shure SE215 makes for an outstanding In-Ear Monitor at its $100 price point. The Etymotic ER2XR, however, while a good product overall, doesn't really manage to stand out from its competition.

The Shure SE215 got praised by tuck.com and SoundGuys - two highly trusted sources that perform in-depth hands-on testing. It was awarded the "Best Earbud Headphones" title from tuck.com and "Ranked 2 out of 5" from SoundGuys in their respective In-Ear Monitor roundups.

Taking a look at the Etymotic ER2XR, it got featured in roundups from two reliable sources that conduct their own testing - Head-fi and headphonesaddict.com - but it fell short of earning a top spot in either.

We tried doing a direct Shure SE215 vs. Etymotic ER2XR review score comparison but couldn't find any sources that tested both.

Next, we took a look at which sources liked them best and found that the Shure SE215 most impressed the reviewers at SoundGuys, who gave it a score of 8.3, whereas the Etymotic ER2XR did best in its Head-fi review - it scored 8.9 points.

Finally, we also compared their review scores to the rest of their competition - the Shure SE215 earned an average review score of 7.8 out of 10 points and the Etymotic ER2XR received an average of 8.9, compared to the 7.7 average of In-Ear Monitors in general.
