Etymotic ER4XR
JBL Reflect Flow
See Top Ranked Canal Earphones

Etymotic ER4 (2016) vs JBL Reflect Flow

Analysis:

The JBL Reflect Flow makes for a good, if unremarkable, Canal Earphone for people with a $90 budget.

The Etymotic ER4XR, however, is merely mediocre at its $299 asking price, when compared to similarly priced products, and won't satisfy the needs of most people.

In either case, we suggest that you first take a look at some other options at the $90 and $300 price points before committing to one of these - it's likely that you'll be able to find some better alternatives.

If you're still interested in learning more about the JBL Reflect Flow and Etymotic ER4XR, however, we wrote a summary of what we could find about them:

The JBL Reflect Flow was loved by reviewers at What Hi-Fi?, a trustworthy source that performs objective hands-on testing. It did great in their "Best budget headphones 2020: cheap wireless and wired earphones" roundup - in fact, they named it their "If you’re after sports in-ears, these are some of the best around.". That, by itself, points toward it being a noteworthy Canal Earphone.

As for the Etymotic ER4XR - it was really well-received by reviewers at PCmag, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best Studio Headphones for 2020" roundup and was named its "Best for Budget-Minded Sound Engineers", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Canal Earphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Canal Earphones being 7.4 out of 10, whereas the JBL Reflect Flow and Etymotic ER4XR managed averages of 8.3 and 8.7 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct JBL Reflect Flow vs. Etymotic ER4XR comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
