Etymotic ER4 (2016) vs MEE audio X7 Plus (2014)
The Etymotic ER4XR is a relatively good Earphone for people that are willing to spend around $250. The MEE audio X7 Plus (2014), by contrast, is quite unremarkable and doesn't stand out in any meaningful way from other products at this price point.
In both cases, however, we recommend that you take look at some other options at the $250 and $95 budget ranges; in all likelihood you'll find some better alternatives.
If you're still interested in learning more about the Etymotic ER4XR and MEE audio X7 Plus (2014), however, we wrote a summary of what we know about them:
The Etymotic ER4XR was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Wired Headphones for 2021" roundup where it was named its "Best for Sound Professionals", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.
As for the MEE audio X7 Plus (2014), it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at Head-fi, Headphone Review, and Reviewed enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.
We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like Head-fi, and learned that they all showed a preference for the MEE audio X7 Plus (2014).
Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Earphones received. We found that the Etymotic ER4XR managed to earn a rating of 10 from PCmag, whereas the MEE audio X7 Plus (2014) got its highest, 9.3, score from reviewers at Head-fi.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Earphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Earphones being 7.3 out of 10, whereas the Etymotic ER4XR and MEE audio X7 Plus (2014) managed averages of 8.5 and 8.0 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Etymotic ER4XR vs. MEE audio X7 Plus (2014) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
