Etymotic ER4 (2016) vs Sony WI-C600N

Analysis:

The Sony WI-C600N and the Etymotic ER4XR are decent Earphones at their respective price points, but don't manage to stand out from their direct competitors in any meaningful way. We suggest that you also look at some alternatives that can be found for around $180 or $300.

If you're still interested in learning a bit more about the Sony WI-C600N and the Etymotic ER4XR, however, read on for a summary of what we could gather about them:

The reviewers at Rtings have featured the Sony WI-C600N in their Sony WI-C600N Wireless Headphones Review roundup. However, it fell short of making it to the top of their list.

As for the Etymotic ER4XR - it was really well-received by reviewers at PCmag, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best Studio Headphones for 2020" roundup and was named its "Best for Budget-Minded Sound Engineers", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Earphones, including Rtings, preferred the Sony WI-C600N over the Etymotic ER4XR.

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Sony WI-C600N was liked best by Rtings, which gave it a score of 7, while the Etymotic ER4XR got its highest, 10, score from PCmag.

Lastly, in order to better compare them to the rest of their competition, we averaged out their review scores. The Etymotic ER4XR managed to get 8.6 out of 10 - considerably better than the 7.3 review average of Earphones in general - whereas the Sony WI-C600N earned 7.0 points.

It should be said that doing a direct Sony WI-C600N vs. Etymotic ER4XR comparison might not be entirely fair due to the difference in their prices - some sources don't put much weight on value for money and thus tend to give better review scores to more expensive products.
