beyerdynamic DT880 vs Focal Elear

Analysis:

Two highly trusted sources that perform well-thought-out in-depth testing consider the beyerdynamic DT880 to be a great product - it earned the "Best for Mixing" title from SoundGuys and "Best for Semi-Open Studio Sound" from PCmag in their respective Open-Back Headphone roundups, which is a good indication of it being a notable product.

Moving on to the Focal Elear: it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like Headphone Review, The Verge, Head-fi, Headfonics, iMore, Rtings, and Audioholics, enough for them to include them on those lists.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Open-Back Headphones, including Head-fi and Rtings, preferred the beyerdynamic DT880 over the Focal Elear.

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The beyerdynamic DT880 was liked best by Head-fi, which gave it a score of 10, while the Focal Elear got its highest, 9, score from Headphone Review.

Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the beyerdynamic DT880, with its 8.3 average, performed considerably better than most Open-Back Headphones - the mean score for the product category being 7.8 out of 10 - while the Focal Elear managed an average of 7.8.

There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct beyerdynamic DT880 vs. Focal Elear review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
