Sony α7R Mirrorless Cameras (2019) vs Fujifilm X-Tx Cameras (2016)

Analysis:

The Sony α7R IV (2019) makes for an outstanding Mirrorless Camera at $3198. The Fujifilm X-T2 (2016), however, while overall a good product for its asking price, doesn't quite manage to stand out from its competition - there are better Mirrorless Cameras that can be found for around $1,300 available here.

The Sony α7R IV (2019) was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Full-Frame Cameras for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Uncompromised Resolution and Speed", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Moving on to the Fujifilm X-T2 (2016): it was unable to reach the very top of any roundups from sources that conduct reliable and unbiased testing. Nonetheless, it still managed to impress reviewers from a number of such sites, like Techradar, Photography Blog, The Phoblographer, Expert Reviews, camerajabber.com, PCmag, and TrustedReviews, enough for them to include them on those lists.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Mirrorless Cameras, PCmag preferred the Sony α7R IV (2019), whereas reviewers at Techradar, Pocket-lint, and camerajabber.com liked the Fujifilm X-T2 (2016) better. TrustedReviews gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Sony α7R IV (2019) rating came from PCmag, whereas the Fujifilm X-T2 (2016) most impressed reviewers at Techradar; they earned scores of 10 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Mirrorless Cameras on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Mirrorless Cameras being 7.9 out of 10, whereas the Sony α7R IV (2019) and Fujifilm X-T2 (2016) managed averages of 9.1 and 9.5 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Sony α7R IV (2019) vs. Fujifilm X-T2 (2016) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
