Moto E (2020) vs Google Pixel 3a / Pixel 3a XL (2019)

The Moto E (2020) was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Cheap Phones for 2023" roundup where it was named its "Ranked 2 out of 8", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the Google Pixel 3a (2019) - it was really well-received by reviewers at CNET and Tom's Guide, which are among the most highly trusted sources on the internet and are known for their in-depth hands-on testing. It was named "Cheaper Pixel 3 with same great camera" by CNET and "Ranked 3 out of 10" by Tom's Guide, which points toward the Google Pixel 3a (2019) being a high-quality product.

We analyzed all of the review data that we could find on these two Smartphones. First, we examined sources that tested and scored both of these products - Tom's Guide, Android Central, PCmag, Digitaltrends, and Techradar favored the Google Pixel 3a (2019) over the Moto E (2020), whereas reviewers at Expert Reviews haven't shown a preference for either.

Then we took a look at which sources liked them the most - we found that the Moto E (2020) was best received by Expert Reviews - it gave it a score of 10, whereas the Google Pixel 3a (2019) got its highest score of 10 from reviewers at Expert Reviews.

Lastly, in order to better compare them to the rest of their competition, we averaged out their review scores. The Google Pixel 3a (2019) managed to get 8.5 out of 10 - considerably better than the 7.5 review average of Smartphones in general - whereas the Moto E (2020) earned 7.3 points.

It should be said that doing a direct Moto E (2020) vs. Google Pixel 3a (2019) comparison might not be entirely fair due to the difference in their prices - some sources don't put much weight on value for money and thus tend to give better review scores to more expensive products.
