The Etymotic ER4SR (2015) was loved by reviewers at SoundGuys, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "Best earbuds of 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best Sound", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the Google Pixel Buds, it was really well-received by reviewers at Tom's Guide, a reliable source that's known for conducting its own, high-quality, in-depth testing. It performed great in its "Best wireless earbuds for 2020" roundup and was named its "Smart buds with excellent Google integration", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both In-Ear Monitors, including PCmag, SoundGuys, What Hi-Fi?, TrustedReviews, and Digitaltrends, preferred the Etymotic ER4SR (2015) over the Google Pixel Buds.

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The Etymotic ER4SR (2015) was liked best by Head-fi, which gave it a score of 10, while the Google Pixel Buds got its highest, 9, score from Android Central.

Lastly, in order to better compare them to their competition, we averaged out their review scores and found that the Etymotic ER4SR (2015) got received considerably better than the majority of other In-Ear Monitors - it earned an average of 8.5 out of 10 points, compared to the 7.7 overall rating of other In-Ear Monitors - while the Google Pixel Buds performed worse than most of its competitors, with its average review score of 6.3.
