Marshall Mode (2015) vs Google Pixel Buds

Analysis:

While the Marshall Mode (2015) makes for a fairly good Canal Earphone for people with a $45 budget, we weren't able to find enough data on the Google Pixel Buds to come to any reliable conclusions.

In either case, we suggest that you look at some other options before committing to one of these.

If you'd nonetheless like to learn more about the Marshall Mode (2015) and Google Pixel Buds, however, we wrote a summary of what we know about them:

The Marshall Mode (2015) was loved by reviewers at Wirecutter (NYTimes), a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Headphones Under $100" roundup where it was named its "Best wired earbuds under $100", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the Google Pixel Buds, Tom's Guide, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Smart buds with excellent Google integration" in its "Best wireless earbuds for 2020" roundup, which is quite a feat.

To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. Digitaltrends and PCmag, for example, preferred the Marshall Mode (2015), while Runnerclick rated both of them the same.

We also took a look at which sources had the best things to say about them. We learned that the Marshall Mode (2015) got reviewed the highest by Head-fi - it gave it a rating of 9, while the Google Pixel Buds most impressed reviewers at Android Central, which gave it a score of 9.

Lastly, in order to better compare them to their competition, we averaged out their review scores and found that the Marshall Mode (2015) got received considerably better than the majority of other Canal Earphones - it earned an average of 8.4 out of 10 points, compared to the 7.4 overall rating of other Canal Earphones - while the Google Pixel Buds performed worse than most of its competitors, with its average review score of 6.4.

It's worth keeping in mind, however, that a direct Marshall Mode (2015) vs. Google Pixel Buds comparison might not be realistic since they're priced differently and some sources have a tendency to review more expensive products better than cheaper ones.
