Google Wifi (2016) vs Samsung SmartThings WiFi Mesh Hubs (2018)

The Google Wifi (2016) was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Tech to Buy on Amazon Prime Day" roundup where it was named its "Ranked 3 out of 13", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the Samsung SmartThings WiFi Mesh Hub (2018) - it was really well-received by reviewers at Laptop Mag and PCmag, which are among the most highly trusted sources on the internet and are known for their in-depth hands-on testing. It was named "Best budget mesh Wi-Fi router" by Laptop Mag and "6. Best Home Gadget" by PCmag, which points toward the Samsung SmartThings WiFi Mesh Hub (2018) being a high-quality product.

We analyzed all of the review data that we could find on these two Wi-Fi Routers. First, we examined sources that tested and scored both of these products - PCmag favored the Samsung SmartThings WiFi Mesh Hub (2018) over the Google Wifi (2016), whereas reviewers at Tom's Guide and PCWorld haven't shown a preference for either.

Then we took a look at which sources liked them the most - we found that the Google Wifi (2016) was best received by Expert Reviews - it gave it a score of 10, whereas the Samsung SmartThings WiFi Mesh Hub (2018) got its highest score of 9 from reviewers at PCmag.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Wi-Fi Routers on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Wi-Fi Routers being 7.4 out of 10, whereas the Google Wifi (2016) and Samsung SmartThings WiFi Mesh Hub (2018) managed averages of 8.3 and 7.8 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Google Wifi (2016) vs. Samsung SmartThings WiFi Mesh Hub (2018) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
