beyerdynamic DT880 vs Grado SR325e (2014)

Analysis:

The beyerdynamic DT880 Pro has impressed reviewers from two sources that are among the most highly trusted on the internet, namely PCmag and SoundGuys. It did great in their objective hands-on roundups - it earned the "Best for Semi-Open Studio Sound" and "Best for Mixing" awards from PCmag and SoundGuys, respectively. That's high praise from such reputable sources.

As for the Grado SR325e (2014), it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at Head-fi, CNET, and Rtings enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.

When we thoroughly analyzed their review scores, we learned that all of the sources that tested both Open-Back Headphones, including Head-fi, preferred the beyerdynamic DT880 Pro over the Grado SR325e (2014).

We also took a look at which sources they managed to impress the most. The beyerdynamic DT880 Pro was liked best by Head-fi, which gave it a score of 10, while the Grado SR325e (2014) got its highest, 10, score from What Hi-Fi?.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Open-Back Headphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Open-Back Headphones being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the beyerdynamic DT880 Pro and Grado SR325e (2014) managed averages of 8.7 and 8.1 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct beyerdynamic DT880 Pro vs. Grado SR325e (2014) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
